Every family has its bedtime rituals, and for a lot of parents a song is at the heart of them. A lullaby that says your child's name, mentions their favourite stuffed animal and describes their own bedroom becomes theirs in a way no classic ever quite does.
Here's how to make one with AI in a couple of minutes.
What makes a good lullaby
Lullabies share a few things across every culture:
- Slow, steady tempo — close to a resting heartbeat.
- Simple, repeated melodies — predictable is soothing.
- Soft voices and gentle instruments — guitar, piano, music box, strings.
- Images of safety — the moon, stars, warm blankets, someone watching over.
Your prompt should ask for all of that, plus the personal details.
A prompt that works
This is the prompt behind Leo's Lullaby, one of the example songs on our home page:
A soft lullaby for Leo, sung slowly and gently, about the moon and the stars watching over him. His little stuffed fox is asleep too.
Notice the stuffed fox. It's the detail your child will listen for.
Details worth including
- Their name, and any nickname you actually use at bedtime.
- A favourite toy or animal that "goes to sleep" with them.
- Something from their day — the park, the ducks, grandma's visit.
- Who is singing — "sung like a mother to her child" or "a father's gentle voice".
Style settings for calm
In AI Music, the Lullaby template already chooses a gentle, fingerpicked acoustic sound with soft vocals. If you write your own prompt, useful style words are "acoustic, gentle, fingerpicked guitar, soft female vocals" or "music box, soft piano, very slow".
Avoid anything with "drop", "anthem" or "energetic" — you'll get the opposite of sleep.
Sing it in the language of home
