When is Day of Family, Love and Fidelity?

The date changes from country to country and from year to year — here it is where you are.

RussiaJuly 8July 8July 8

In Russia, 8 July is the Day of Family, Love and Fidelity. It's named after Peter and Fevronia of Murom, a medieval couple remembered for staying devoted to each other all their lives. Its symbol is the white chamomile. Couples choose the date for weddings, and long-married pairs are honoured. Other countries have family days too: Canada's provinces in February, and the UN's International Day of Families on 15 May.

Whatever the date, a family song says what usually goes unsaid at a big table. Tell us who's in your family, how it started and what you do together. AI writes the lyrics around your names and stories, composes the music and sings it with real vocals in about a minute. You can make it in Russian, English or both of your family's languages.

Family Day

Acoustic, Pop · 2:58

“A warm acoustic song for Family Day about the Petrov family: Grandma Galya and Grandpa Kolya, married 50 years, their son Andrei and his wife Olga, and their kids Sasha and little Masha. Every summer we gather at the dacha, make pelmeni together and play guitar on the porch. Mention white chamomiles and the old wooden table. Put the Petrovs together in the chorus.”

What to put in a family song

  • 1

Every name, from the eldest to the youngest. The baby and the dog count too.

  • 2

Where the family comes from: the village, the move to the city or a new country, the first flat everyone squeezed into.

  • 3

Your family's sayings and in-jokes, like the phrase everyone says when the car won't start.

  • 4

The traditions: Sunday pelmeni made together, the summer dacha, board games on New Year's Eve.

  • 5

Something you got through as a family, a hard year, a move or an illness, told with gratitude rather than detail.

  • 6

For a couple married on 8 July, or one celebrating a big anniversary, a verse just for them.

  • 7

Relatives who live far away, named so they feel they're at the table.

  • 8

A hope for the next generation: the same table, more chairs.

How a family chorus could sound

Grandma Galya's table, chamomile in a jar,

eight of us, one dog and a borrowed guitar,

we argue and we laugh and we always come back home —

the Petrovs together, never on our own.

Where a family song fits

  • The family dinner. Play it when everyone's sitting down, before the toasts. Hearing their own names in a song makes even teenagers look up from their phones.
  • With chamomiles. The white chamomile is the day's flower. Tie a small printed card with a QR code that plays the song (subscription) to a bunch of them for the oldest couple at the table.
  • A wedding on 8 July. If you're marrying on Family Day, a song about the two families becoming one makes a gentle first dance or toast.
  • For relatives abroad. Send the link to the family chat. It plays in any browser, so the aunt in another country hears it the same evening.

One song, many generations

A family song has to work for a five-year-old and an eighty-year-old at once. Keep the chorus short and repeatable, so the children can sing it by the second time. Leave the details for the verses, where the grandparents will catch them. Acoustic and folk-flavoured songs feel like a gathering around a table. Light pop gets the kids dancing. A waltz or a gentle ballad suits a song mostly about the grandparents. If your family is bilingual, say so in the description. The song can mix both languages, or be in the one the oldest generation speaks best.

Questions

Can a song include the names of the whole family?

Yes. List everyone in the description, with how they're related if you like, and the lyrics will include their names. With a big family, the chorus usually carries the family name and the verses carry the people.

Our family isn't traditional. Will it still work?

Yes. Stepparents, adopted children, a single parent, grandparents raising grandchildren, chosen family: describe your family as it is, and the song is written about exactly that.

Does this work for Family Day in Canada or the International Day of Families?

Yes. The song is about your family, not one date. Mention the occasion in the description and it will fit whichever family day you celebrate.

Can I make a slideshow of family photos with the song?

Yes. Turn the song into a lyric video. With a subscription you can use your own photos as a slideshow, and it's ready to share in stories or the family chat.

How much does it cost?

The first song is free for a new account, no card needed. After that, songs use credits from a subscription or a one-off pack.
