Birthday songs by person
His allotment, his fishing stories that grow every year, the joke he has told since 1975 — turned into a birthday song he will ask you to play twice.

Eighty-odd years of birthdays leave a man with plenty of mugs, ties and cards that say “World's Best Grandad”. What very few grandpas have ever had is a song written about them — about the allotment where every tomato plant has a name, the fish that was “this big”, the way he still drives you to the station whether you need it or not.
Tell us what you call him, a few things he loves and a story or two, and the lyrics are written around them, sung with real vocals and finished in about a minute. Pick a sound from his era — rock'n'roll, country, a brass-band march — and play it after the toast. Do not be surprised if he pretends not to be moved and then asks for a copy.
Pop, upbeat, bright, catchy chorus · 2:35
“A playful, warm birthday song for my grandpa Frank, turning eighty. We call him Gramps. He spends every morning in his vegetable garden talking to his tomato plants, and the fish he caught long ago gets bigger every time he tells the story. He taught me patience on the riverbank. Classic rock'n'roll style with a walking bass. Put “Grandpa Frank” and “eighty years” in the chorus.”
Make one like thisWhat you call him: Grandpa, Grandad, Gramps, Pops, Nana-ji, Opa, Abuelo. The family name for him belongs in the chorus.
His catchphrase. The thing he says when the team loses, when it rains, or when you leave without a jacket.
His tall tale. The fish, the snowstorm, the time he met somebody famous — let the song exaggerate it even further.
His patch of earth: the allotment, the tomato plants he talks to, the bird feeder he refills every morning.
His history: where he grew up, his old job, his years in a band or on a ship — one line each.
Grandma, if she is part of his story. A verse about the two of them can be the most touching moment of the song.
What you learned from him: tying a fishing knot, reading the weather from the clouds, keeping calm.
Raise a cup for Grandpa Frank, the tomatoes are in bloom,
the fish keeps getting bigger every time he fills the room,
eighty years of muddy boots and lunch at half past noon —
happy birthday, Grandpa, here's your very own tune.
The fastest way to a grandfather's heart is the music of when he was twenty. Ask for a style, not a famous song:
Write it in the description — for example, “1950s rock'n'roll with a walking bassline” — and the melody is composed to match.
Most grandpas enjoy being teased far more than being praised, so a playful first verse about his legendary sense of direction or his opinion of modern cars will get the room laughing. Then let the last verse turn: the walks you took together, what he taught you, what you hope to tell your own children about him. That turn from laughter to sincerity is what people remember. For a big birthday — 70, 80, 90 — print the lyrics on a poster with a QR code that plays the song (a subscription feature) and frame it for his wall.

Yes. Tell their story — how they met, the years side by side — and a verse can be about the two of them, which is lovely when his birthday falls near their anniversary.
Tell it who it’s for and what happened. We’ll handle the rest.
